Privacy Policy

Protecting your personal data matters to us. Below we explain which data we process, for what purpose, and what rights you have.

Controller

The controller for the data processing on this website is Josef Pucher, Ljuba-Welitsch-Promenade 12/44, 1030 Vienna, Austria. Contact: fastest via our support chat or by email to impressum@kindofbook.com. Full details can be found in the imprint at the end of this page.

Newsletter

When you subscribe to our newsletter we process your email address, the selected country, and your chosen favourite genres in order to send you matching eBook deals every day. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given through a double opt-in procedure.

Our newsletters contain tracking functions with which we evaluate, for statistical purposes, whether and when an email was opened and which links were clicked. This helps us improve the newsletter and tailor the selection.

You can withdraw your consent at any time and unsubscribe via the link at the bottom of every email or through our support. We use Amazon SES (Amazon Web Services) to send the emails; the data required for sending is transmitted to this provider.

Author account and bookings

To use the author area you create an account (sign-in via a magic link sent to your email address). We process the data you provide and the details of submitted eBook promotions in order to review submissions and process bookings (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Paid bookings are processed through the payment provider Stripe. Payment data is processed directly by Stripe; we ourselves do not store full credit card details. We keep invoice and booking data for the duration of the statutory retention periods.

Support chat

When you use our support chat or contact form, we process the information you submit (e.g. your email address and the content of your request) in order to handle your enquiry. To answer common questions automatically we use an AI-based assistant that has access only to the content of your current request and to our knowledge base.

Access data and hosting

When you access our website, technically necessary access data is processed (e.g. IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type). This data is required for secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Our website is delivered via Vercel; our data (including subscribers and bookings) is stored at Supabase on servers within the EU (Frankfurt, Germany).

Cookies

Technically necessary cookies and comparable storage techniques are required to operate the website — for example to recognise logged-in authors during a session. Beyond that, we set cookies for reach measurement only with your consent (see the next section). You can disable cookies in your browser; some functions may then no longer be available.

Reach measurement (Google Analytics)

If you have consented, we use Google Analytics, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to analyse the use of our website statistically and to improve our offering. This uses cookies and processes usage data (usually with a shortened IP address), which may also be transferred to Google servers in the USA.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

Social media

We have a presence on social media platforms (e.g. Facebook) where we share deals. The privacy policy of the respective provider applies to the processing of your data on these platforms. If you do not want a visit to our content to be linked to your social media account, log out there before visiting.

Retention period

We store personal data only for as long as is necessary for the stated purposes or as required by statutory retention periods. We process newsletter data until you unsubscribe or withdraw your consent.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of the processing of your data, the right to data portability, and the right to object to processing. You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link; you can request the complete deletion of your data through our support. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — for our operator this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).

Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy to reflect changes in the legal situation or in our service. The version published on this page applies.
